Two-component inflatable penile prosthesis
This is a hydraulic model of a penile prosthesis, which includes rigidity cylinders, reservoirs and a pressure pump. The cylinders are inserted into the corpus cavernosum of the penis during surgery, and the pump is placed in the scrotum. The pump and cylinders are connected by tubes. During an erection, fluid from the reservoirs of the penile prosthesis enters the cylinders, ensuring the hardness of the penis. To get an erection, it is enough to squeeze the pump several times. To relieve an erection, the penis is bent and maintained in a bent position for several seconds.
The AMS Ambicor two-component penile prosthesis has an advantage over single-component models in that it provides a more natural erection and a resting state of the penis. However, the disadvantage of a two-component prosthesis is a larger pump and a smaller working volume of fluid compared to three-component models.
Three-component inflatable penile prosthesis
These penile prostheses are the most advanced models that provide a natural erection and a state of rest for the penis. Three-component penile implants consist of cylinders of variable stiffness, a reservoir and a pressure pump. To get an erection, it is enough to squeeze the pump several times, and to remove the erection, press the valve. These penile prostheses provide the best functional and cosmetic results. The AMS 700, Rigicon infla 10 and Coloplast Titan prostheses are the most advanced three-component models with antibacterial coating, which reduces the risk of infections and failure of the prosthesis. The new models AMS700 LGX and Rigicon infla 10 AX allow you to increase not only the length, but also the width of the penis when filled.

Features of penile prosthesis surgery and the postoperative period
Penile replacement surgery is a complex process that requires strict adherence to the international implantation protocol to prevent complications, especially infectious ones. During the operation, the cavernous bodies of the penis are destroyed using bougienage to install the cylinders of the penile prosthesis. The length of the penile prosthesis is individually selected during surgery. The reservoir and pressure pump of inflatable penile prostheses are located in the retropubic space and scrotum.
In the first 1-2 days after surgery, the patient is advised to remain in bed. Minor pain and swelling of the penis may occur, especially in the first week after surgery. Antibiotics are usually prescribed to prevent infection in the postoperative period. 7-10 days after the operation, the patient can return to work, and after 1.5-2 months begin sexual activity. Sexual life after the operation is normal, the penile prosthesis does not affect the sensitivity of the penis, the quality of orgasm and ejaculation. The partner may not even notice that the patient has a penile implant if she has not been warned.
How is penile prosthesis surgery performed?
Before undergoing penile replacement surgery, the patient undergoes thorough preparation and preoperative examination to exclude contraindications to the operation. The previous therapy that the patient received is also specified.
